Envisioning Access Website
Greetings from the Executive Director

Every day at Envisioning Access, we witness what becomes possible when innovation is shaped by compassion, expertise, and the lived experiences of people living with disabilities. Technology is advancing rapidly, and we have a unique opportunity—and responsibility—to ensure these advancements enhance independence, dignity, and connection.

Your support makes it possible for us to collaborate with tech start-ups and universities to develop assistive technologies that truly meet the needs of the disability community.

I’d like you to imagine something:
You’re applying for employment, sitting in a classroom, or catching up with friends. Now imagine doing all of that without being able to speak. Whether due to cerebral palsy, stroke, or trauma-induced speech impairment, many individuals face barriers that most of us never think about. Speech connects us, helps us express who we are, and opens doors to work, education, and community life. This is why Envisioning Access and The Babel Group, reseller of Voiceitt, are proud to be partnering to bring this life-changing technology to those who need it most.

Voicett collaborated with individuals living with speech disabilities and speech-language pathologists to develop speech recognition for non-standard speech, opening the world of voice technology to people with speech disabilities, aging adults, and speakers with accents.

I hope you will read more about Christopher "Tripp" Lyons below and that you consider giving the gift of speech this season.

With your help, we can ensure no one is ever silenced by disability.

From all of us at Envisioning Access to all of you, THANK YOU for your support and belief in our work. Without you, our work would not be possible.

We wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and a joyous 2026!

When Grants Stall but Capital Grows:

Why Disability Tech Needs to Lead the Next Investment Wave

Millions of people rely on technologies that public grants can no longer reliably support. Every day, disability organizations feel the strain of shrinking budgets and stalled funding cycles, even as the need for innovation grows. But there is another side to the story: private capital is surging, and disability tech sits squarely within this wave of investment and momentum. This is the moment to transform unmet needs into inclusive innovation, shifting from scarcity to possibility—and ensuring people living with disabilities aren’t left waiting for solutions that already exist or could.

The gift of speech.

What if the only thing standing between someone and their future was the ability to be understood?

Every day, countless people with speech impairments fight to share their ideas, their humor, their needs—and too often, the world simply doesn’t hear them or misunderstands them. Behind every paused conversation is a person with something meaningful to say.

And, with the right support, that barrier can disappear. With your help, a single tool can change that.

Meet Christopher “Tripp” Lyons, a senior Politics major at Fairfield University and a passionate disability advocate. For years, Tripp relied on typing everything into his iPad just to be understood—a slow and limiting process. People often misinterpret his speech differences as a lack of intelligence.
